One of the major ways I have been contributing to research development in peace and conflict studies, educational reform and performance studies has been through book reviews, published in academic journals.

The work done in book reviews creates a context for a particular piece of literature as it relates to the larger body of research within a specific area. Each review is written according to journal guidelines but typically focuses on the significance of the ideas and/or research presented, grapples with how it supports or refutes other trends in the field and how the literature might work in academic settings.
